Lori Peckham got her publishing break when she was 12. One of her poems won a local contest by the Palo Alto Times newspaper in California and appeared in print. Soon after, another poem was bought by a middle grade magazine.
She couldn’t stop writing and pursued that passion in college, majoring in both English and Communication, then earning a master’s degree in writing.
After graduation, she began her career at a publishing company back East as an editor of a magazine for teenagers. Most recently, she was program director and a professor at a university in the Midwest.
Lori has written hundreds of published pieces, including features, editorials, profiles, news, curriculum, stylebooks, and scripts. She has won several national awards for reporting, editing, and writing.
She particularly loves the middle grade audience. She was invited to be the compiler/editor of Guide magazine’s “greatest” story collections and has produced more than 20 of those popular books.
During a family vacation to Spain, she got inspired to write Secrets of the Castillo, a mystery set among the dramatic historical landmarks.
